We are pleased to announce, Lama Tendar will be taking a group (of up to 15 people) on a pilgrimage to India in 2017, vising Bodhgaya, Varanasi Delhi, and Dharamsala.
First Stop Bodhgaya
Bodhgaya is the place of Lord Buddha’s enlightenment. We will visit the Mahabodhi temple and meditate under the Bodhi tree of enlightenment where
Buddha sat, over 2600 years ago.
In Bodhgaya, we will pay homage to Buddha over 4 glorious days of retreat. Mornings will start at 5am when we will visit the main temple to ofer flowers to Buddha before morning meditation and chanting.
Surrounding Bodhgaya there are many places of pilgrimage as well. During our stay in Bodhgaya, we will visit Vultures Peak, where Buddha taught the Heart Sutra; and the city of Nalanda where we will visit the famous Nalanda University, where the Great Nalanda Masters came from; as well as an array of international Buddhist temples in Bodhgaya.
Second Stop Varanasi
Then we go to Varanasi, where we will spend 2 days and visit the Deer park in Sarnath where Buddha taught the “Four Noble Truths” and receive teachings from Lama Tendar and do meditation.
Third Stop Delhi
After Varanasi we fly to Delhi then on to Dharamsala, at the foothills of the Himalayan mountains.
Fourth Stop Dharamsala
Dharamsala is the home of His Holiness Dalai Lama’s residence in exile, the Tibetan community in exile, Norbulingka Institute, Tibetan government, Library, Medical and Astrology Institute. Everything pertaining to Tibetan Buddhism and culture you will find right here in Dharamsala. In Dharamsala, we will wake up to the sights of snowy mountains and visit nearby water falls. We will also visit the Main Temple, circumambulate His Holiness’ residence, visit Lama Tendar’s monastery, Gyuto Monastery; enjoy Tibetan culture, visit the Tibetan shops, buy thangkas, and visit the numerous Tibetan restaurants and coffee shops, eat cake, drink coffee. Every morning, we will do meditation, sometimes with Lama Tendar’s student monks. We are very lucky to have monks join us in meditation.
